How to Remove Unwanted Objects From a Photo

BeforeAfter
A great photo is often ruined by one small thing: a stranger walking through the frame, a trash can next to a building, a power line across the sky. CleanUpPhotos uses AI inpainting to erase those objects and fill the gap with background that matches the rest of the picture.
1. Upload your photo
Drag and drop an image onto the editor, or tap to choose one from your computer or phone. PNG, JPG and iPhone HEIC photos up to 10 MB are supported.
2. Mark what you want removed
You have two ways to select an object:
- Boxes – drag a rectangle around the object. This is the quickest option for compact things like a person, a car, a sign or a logo. You can draw several boxes and remove them all in one pass.
- Brush – paint directly over the object. This works best for long or irregular shapes such as wires, shadows, cracks or a photobomber's arm. Press
[and]to shrink or grow the brush.
3. Remove and download
Click Remove Objects. The AI fills the marked areas using the surrounding texture, light and color. When you're happy with the result, download it – there is no watermark.
Tips for cleaner results
- Cover the whole object, plus a little margin. Leaving a sliver of an edge or a shadow behind makes the AI try to "continue" it.
- Don't forget shadows and reflections. A removed person whose shadow is still on the ground looks strange. Brush over the shadow too.
- Work in passes for big areas. If an object covers a large part of the image, remove it in two or three smaller steps and check the result after each one.
- Simple backgrounds work best. Sky, grass, water, walls and pavement are easy to reconstruct. Detailed patterns like text or faces behind the object are harder, so expect to touch those up.
